Chelsea Pull Out of Delap Deal After Release Clause Setback. Man United on the verge.

Chelsea have reportedly called off their pursuit of young striker Liam Delap after encountering complications with his release clause, which was expected to become active following his parent club’s relegation.

The 21-year-old, currently on Manchester City’s books and coming off a promising loan spell at Hull City, had emerged as a target for Chelsea as they looked to inject youth and energy into their forward line. However, despite initial optimism surrounding a potential deal, sources now indicate that the West London club has withdrawn their interest.

It is believed that the release clause — previously thought to be triggered by relegation — is either higher than expected or has been rendered invalid due to contract complexities. This unexpected twist has led Chelsea to reassess the financial feasibility of the move, ultimately deciding not to pursue Delap further at this time.

The club will now shift focus to other attacking options as they prepare for a busy summer transfer window under new manager Enzo Maresca.
