Leeds United set to shock everyone with England midfielder move after free agency announcement
Leeds United will be wanting to pull out the stops this transfer window to show real intent in their desire to stay in the Premier League.
The summer is just getting started, and it’s building up to be an exciting one for Leeds fans.
With a £100m+ budget available to the Whites, there shouldn’t really be a dull day in the market as soon as June starts.
The hierarchy have detailed that they won’t be settling for a quiet window and Paraag Marathe indicated Daniel Farke will be heavily involved with the strategy.
Although they have the money to spend, they could land an absolute bargain, which could be the difference in their Premier League status come the end of the season.
Leeds United should move for England’s Angel Gomes after announcement
With the Whites having a strategy, budget, and plan in place for the window, there is no reason why business can’t begin.
A good way of tapping into the market is looking at free agents which come available, and Angel Gomes could be perfect for Farke.
The 49ers are clearly already looking to do this through Everton’s Abdoulaye Doucoure who Leeds want, as now the midfielder has confirmed his exit.
But Gomes seems like a more appealing option, and with Farke exploring number ten options, the 24-year-old’s announcement has come at an ideal time.
This announcement being his departure from Lille, as after four seasons at the club, he’ll be looking for a new adventure.
The midfielder made his England debut under Lee Carsley in November and has grabbed the headlines after his time in France.
Everton are already interested in Gomes (ESPN), and both Leeds and the Toffees seem to be looking at a similar standard of player this summer, with both entering exciting projects.
Although another transfer battle could be on the Whites’ hands, Farke has a secret weapon for Gomes.
Leeds have a secret weapon which could help land Gomes
With competition expected for Gomes’ signature, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if Leeds did look into the prospect of signing the midfielder.
Gomes has shone for Lille in Ligue 1, but his season has been full of injuries which may be a risk that comes with the deal, however, the campaign before proved why Farke should look into the signing.
He looks promising, but as aforementioned, interest will be high, which is why Farke can use a secret weapon.
Although Largie Ramazani hasn’t been in Farke’s good books, it looks likely he will remain at Elland Road.
This will be even better as Ramazani and Gomes both came through Manchester United’s academy together, which could sway Gomes for a move to Yorkshire should interest arise.
Their friendship is clear after Ramazani sent his love in the comments to Gomes after his goodbye announcement.
Although there have been no signs of Leeds showing admiration, this is exactly who Farke should be gunning for in the summer.
