Sunderland’s strong home record in contrast to Coventry City and other playoff competitors
Before concentrating on their attempt to earn promotion into the Premier League through the Championship play-offs,
Sunderland has one more match to win.
As the Black Cats conclude their regular season games following nine months of conflicting feelings, Queens Park
Rangers will come to Wearside for a midday kickoff on Saturday. Regis Le Bris‘ team has performed admirably
for the majority of the season, winning games against teams like Sheffield United, Middlesbrough, and Sheffield Wednesday.
Some of the momentum generated by making it to the playoffs has been squandered due to recent lows,
including a stretch of four straight losses and five games without a win. Nevertheless, it would be safe to say
that the season has already been a success and that the Black Cats have exceeded expectations given the
mystery and uncertainty surrounding Le Bris’ appointment last summer. They finished the regular season
in fourth place in the second division. Numerous teams have competed for a spot in the playoffs,
but Sunderland has defeated them all and will look to take another step in the direction of ending the team’s
eight-year Premier League exile during the course of the upcoming month.
