‘More likely to bounce back’ – Millwall vs Norwich City ‘new’ kick-off time, prediction, team news, lineups
Millwall and Norwich City meet in the Championship on Easter Monday with both sides eager to bounce back from big defeats.
Millwall come into the clash with Norwich City knowing anything but a win will put them at risk of ending their outside chances of a play-off finish.
As for Norwich City, they played out a goal fest at Fratton Park but were ultimately on the receiving end of a 5-3 defeat against Portsmouth.
The Canaries’ goals were scored by Josh Sargent, Jack Stacey and Emiliano Marcondes but an abysmal defensive display was their undoing. They have now won just once in the last nine Championship games, a run which leaves them 13th in the table.
Johannes Hoff Thorup has come under fire from Norwich fans but will hope to retain the long-term backing of the club hierarchy after a challenging first season.
Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…
James Ray
“Having both put in performances to forget over the weekend, Millwall and Norwich City will be eager to bounce back here. It was an uncharacteristic display from the Lions especially, who have been largely solid at the back.
“They will know how damaging the weekend’s results were for their slim play-off hoops and while there is still a chance, the prospects of a top six have dwindled even further.
“As for Norwich and Thorup, you feel the manager really needs a couple good results to end the season. There are reservations over whether he can lead the Canaries back to the top end of the Championship table, but he wasn’t helped by his players on Saturday at all.
“All in all, I think Millwall are more likely to bounce back from their Good Friday humbling. I’ll go for a 2-1 home win.”
Prediction: Millwall 2-1 Norwich City
Harry Mail
“Millwall need to win this one to keep their play-offs hopes alive. They were poor against Blackburn Rovers last time out and need to bounce back.
“The Lions have improved since Alex Neil took over from Neil Harris. They will want to end the season on a high and still have something to play for.
“Norwich City’s campaign has started to peter out. Pressure is starting to grow on Johannes Hoff Thorup after their loss against Portsmouth.
“The Canaries have a decision to make regarding his future this summer. I think they will get beat again here at The Den.”
Prediction: Millwall 1-0 Norwich City
