£15m Leeds United player confirms he will be available to face Stoke City
It was all about the result for Leeds United on Friday evening and Daniel Farke’s men got the job done against Oxford United, taking them a step closer to securing automatic promotion.
The pressure was on for Leeds and Daniel Farke after Burnley and Sheffield United had picked up wins earlier on in the day. Burnley came from behind to beat Watford, while Sheffield United beat Cardiff City.
A 2-0 victory for Chris Wilder’s men that ended a run of three straight losses. Leeds then, needed a win to reassert their five-point lead ahead of the Blades and Manor Solomon’s goal proved enough to do that.
Oxford United had chances but Leeds had better ones and really should have won the game by more than just a solitary goal, with Ao Tanaka hitting the post and Brenden Aaronson coming close to a goal.
Manor Solomon says if he will be fit to play against Stoke City
Five clear of third, three games left to play. Next up for Leeds is Stoke City at Elland Road, after Burnley and Sheffield United do battle on Monday with Leeds requiring four points, if Sheffield United win.
Solomon was substituted late on at Oxford United and replaced by Isaac Schmidt, immediately talking to Farke as he came off. There were fears the £15m-rated ace had picked up an injury late on at Oxford.
Tony Dorigo was co-commentating for LUTV and after the game, asked Solomon: “Was it just a bit of cramp you came off with?”. Solomon replied to Dorigo: “Yeah, just cramp, I’ll be all good for Monday.”
What Leeds United now need to secure automatic promotion…
At the very most, Leeds now need four points. Sheffield United’s best potential total is 95 points with The Blades sitting on 86, three left to play – though their next game is a trip to second-placed Burnley.
If Burnley win on Monday, Sheffield United can only obtain 92 points and with Leeds on 91 and boasting double Sheffield United’s goal difference – The Whites would only need a point from their final three.
If Sheffield United manage a draw at Turf Moor, they will climb to 87 points and go within four of Leeds before facing Stoke. Leeds will need two points from games against Stoke, Bristol City and Plymouth.
Whichever way you look at it, Leeds’ win over Oxford United was a crucial one and are just inches away from confirming their place in next season’s Premier League. Farke will want to do it as champions.
