Watkins starts, Rashford decision: Aston Villa starting Xi vs PSG predicted
Aston Villa face a two-goal deficit as they prepare to take on Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night.
Unai Emery’s side fell to a 3-1 defeat in Paris last Wednesday, despite taking the lead shortly before half-time against the French champions.
However, Désiré Doué ensured PSG didn’t go into the break behind, levelling the score with a long-range strike past Emi Martinez.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia then turned the game on its head soon after the restart, before Nuno Mendes added a third for the hosts in the second minute of stoppage time.
It was a significant blow for Villa to concede so late, but an early goal at Villa Park could blow the tie wide open.
Emi Martinez is expected to start in goal, potentially behind a back four of Matty Cash, Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres, and Lucas Digne.
Ian Maatsen could be an impact substitute if Villa are still in contention of causing a shock during the second half.
Boubacar Kamara and Youri Tielemans are likely to anchor the midfield in a double pivot, with Marco Asensio operating as the number 10.
Ollie Watkins may return to the starting XI after his crucial goal against Southampton last time out, while Marcus Rashford could provide a key impact off the bench.
That could then see John McGinn start on the right and Morgan Rogers from the left.
Villa predicted XI vs PSG: Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne, Kamara, Tielemans, McGinn, Asensio, Rogers, Watkins.
