BREAKING NEWS: The ‘fake news’ jab at the media outlet is explained by Ianis Hagi.

After his thrilling late equaliser gave Barry Ferguson’s team a 2-2 draw against Aberdeen at Pittodrie, Ianis Hagi responded to rumours about his Rangers future, postponing Celtic’s Scottish Premiership title celebrations for at least another week.

In a thrilling match in the Granite City, the Romanian playmaker, whose contract is slated to expire at the end of the season, came through for the Light Blues when it counted most, scoring a goal in the 96th minute to salvage a point.

However, his future was as much a topic of the post-match headlines as his pivotal role.

The 26-year-old quickly dismissed reports from Romania earlier in the week that stated Hagi was looking to leave Ibrox as “fake news” on social media.

From my vantage point, I can relate because my future is uncertain due to the contract expiring at the conclusion of the season. After full-time, Hagi addressed the issue by telling Sky Sports, “I completely understand.”

“But I simply wanted to make it clear since I never stated that I wanted to quit Rangers, so I can’t accept things that are said or phrases that I have never uttered.

“I will do anything for this football club, and you know how happy I am to be here and how much I love it.”

After struggling for more than half of the game with just ten men after Ross McCausland was sent off, Rangers’ spirits were raised ahead of Thursday’s Europa League quarterfinal second leg against Athletic Bilbao by Hagi’s late goal, which also spoilt Celtic’s opportunity to start another title celebration at Parkhead.

“It’s about concentrating on Thursday,” Hagi continued. Giving back to the fans is really important to us. That’s the main focus. We want to end the season strong and advance to the next round.
