Report: Everton wonderkid Harrison Armstrong now wanted by another Championship club after Derby County loan

Everton sent Harrison Armstrong on loan to Derby County in January.

David Moyes found it tough to sanction Harrison Armstrong’s loan but ultimately, he and the club felt it was best for his development.

Everton coaches believe Harrison Armstrong will have an incredibly bright future after excelling with the under-18s and 21s.

Asmir Begovic has labelled Armstrong as a ‘special talent‘, so it’s hardly surprising to see him doing so well at Derby County.

In fact, Derby fans are desperate to re-sign Armstrong this summer transfer window, but now they face competition from another Championship outfit.

Blackburn Rovers want to sign Harrison Armstrong

Everton have been keeping close tabs on Armstrong since his winter switch to Derby, who are fighting for their Championship status.

The England youth international has established himself as a key player and has been pivotal in the remarkable turn of form, which has seen the Rams win four of the last seven games, only suffering defeat once.

John Eustace’s side are now out of the relegation zone and Armstrong has earned much of the plaudits, such is why there is interest in his signature higher up the league.

According to Alan Nixon’s Patreon, Blackburn Rovers are keen to sign the Everton wonderkid, whom they targetted before his move to the East Midlands.

Rovers are currently 10th, with an outside chance of making the playoffs, so it would be an upward step in Armstrong’s career.

Everton will give Armstrong chance in pre-season

Everton already have a plan laid out for Armstrong and at this stage, it doesn’t include another loan away from Merseyside.

In fact, the Toffees have been so impressed by the 18-year-old’s development that they’re willing to give him the chance to stake his claim in pre-season.

If Armstrong catches Moyes’ eye in friendlies this summer, it would appear that he’ll be included in the first-team squad next season.

Orel Mangala and Idrissa Gueye are set to leave the club, so there is a big opportunity for Armstrong to earn a place in the starting line-uup.
