Leeds United fans send a clear message to Joel Piroe with chant vs Preston

Leeds United made it difficult but picked up three vital points in the Championship vs Preston.

It wasn’t one of their finest performances but Leeds’ 2-1 win vs Preston did the job in terms of the promotion race.

With Sheffield United dropping points, everything is pointing the way of a return to the Premier League for Leeds as there is a five-point gap between Daniel Farke and Chris Wilder.

Paul Heckingbottom predicted a fast Leeds start, and that became clear after all three goals came in the opening 13 minutes.

Although there were some fine displays from the likes of Manor Solomon and Jayden Bogle, fans made their feelings clear on Joel Piroe.

It wasn’t a day to remember for Piroe, who will have his status as main striker seriously considered.

The Dutchman made it eight games without scoring despite Leeds’ success in front of goal, as a decision might be set in stone for Farke.

With Patrick Bamford back to full fitness, Joe Rodon hinted at Piroe being dropped, and the fanbase might share the same wishes after the win over Preston.

Well, it certainly seemed that way at Elland Road, as the whole stadium could be heard singing Bamford’s name as the Leeds number nine was called to the bench before his eventual appearance in the 81st minute.

This speaks volumes to Farke and certainly indicates a change is needed as Leeds look to get their necks over the line.

Piroe’s game by numbers in Leeds’ victory vs Preston

It’s an alarming factor for the Dutchman, who has performed well for the majority of the season.

But for some reason, the 25-year-old just can’t seem to get it to click at the moment and couldn’t even hit the target well in the slightest.

It’s proving to be a decision out of Farke’s hands and if Leeds hadn’t won, fans would’ve got on his back sooner for not taking the striker off.

Despite Farke loving Piroe’s work rate, it’s Bamford’s time to get the job done for Leeds.
