Spurs name new CEO Postecoglou promises to address “leaks.”
Since Tottenham Hotspur announced Vinai Venkatesham as their new CEO, Ange Postecoglou is
committed to finding and fixing the problem of information leaks within the team.
With a lot of experience, including a significant position with the British Olympic Association,
Venkatesham, the former CEO of North London rivals Arsenal, will join Spurs in the summer.
Postecoglou’s annoyance with the club’s ongoing leaks coincided with the announcement of
Venkatesham’s imminent arrival.
The Spurs manager voiced his displeasure with the persistent problem, which he feels makes
efforts on the field more difficult, the day after the team’s 1-1 tie with Eintracht Frankfurt in
the first leg of the Europa League quarterfinal.
Wilson Odobert, who had been an outstanding player against AZ Alkmaar in the previous round
but was benched during the Frankfurt match, was the subject of one such leak.
Following rumors on social media that Odobert had sustained a new hamstring injury,
Postecoglou clarified the reality. “He’s all right. We take a cautious approach and keep a close eye
on each player’s progress now that they are all back from long-term ailments,” the former Celtic manager clarified.
“We’ve done that with Destiny (Udogie), Micky (van de Ven), (Cristian) Romero, and other people.
Wilson trained today, so he should be available for the weekend,
though they may feel some soreness in other places.
