Leicester City set to shock us all by appointing Pep Guardiola disciple as Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s replacement
Leicester City are almost certain to part ways with Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Leicester City News spoke to journalist Graeme Bailey earlier this week, who confirmed that Van Nistelrooy is very likely to leave the King Power Stadium.
Bailey added that Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior is one to keep an eye on over the next few weeks, though, he could yet pen a new deal with the French outfit.
Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl has emerged as a contender for Leicester, whilst Russell Martin is also being linked.
But, Leicester can shock us all with a really left-field appointment that is sure to excite fans.
Leicester City can shock us all by appointing Cesc Fabregas
All the names being linked to Leicester at the moment have Championship experience, which is evidently important.
But it’s not the be-all and end-all, as evinced by former boss Enzo Maresca, who joined after a spell in Italy with Parma.
Leicester can repeat their Maresca appointment by hiring Como manager Cesc Fabregas, who has been impressing in Serie A.
Fabregas stepped into management last summer and has the newly-promoted side in 13th, well clear of any relegation danger.
The Spaniard is a disciple of Pep Guardiola, having learned from the Manchester City boss during their time together at Barcelona.
So, if Leicester were able to convince him to make the switch to the East Midlands, he’d likely implement a possesion-based, tiki-taka approach.
Fabregas would be able to attract some serious talent
The 37-year-old could use his connections to sign players on loan from the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and perhaps even Monaco.
That in itself should be a key reason why Leicester must consider making an approach for the Como manager.
It’s audacious, but then again, the prospect of potentially managing in the Premier League in a year’s time would be attractive for most European bosses.
