‘Incredible’ – Paul Merson blown away by Everton stat in Nott’m Forest prediction

Everton are looking to continue their turnaround under David Moyes against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The Scotsman has led the Goodison Park outfit out of relegation danger with a sensational run of form since taking the reins and is looking to continue that at the City Ground (12 April).

Focus is now on finishing the season strongly ahead of an exciting summer when the Toffees move to the new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium and the Friedkin Group set to back Moyes in the transfer market.

Everton stat leaves Merson blown away

The Blues have been on a remarkable run lately, losing just one of their last 11 matches in the Premier League.

That run includes draws with Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United and victories over Tottenham, Brighton and Crystal Palace.

Merson predicted a 1-0 win for Forest on this occasion but reserved praise for the job that Moyes has done with the Toffees.

In his weekly predictions column for Sportskeeda (10 April), he said: “This is a hard game for Nottingham Forest.

“They are a team that don’t lose back-to-back games very often, I remember them bouncing back after losses against Arsenal and Manchester City earlier this season.

“But Everton have lost just once in their last 11 league games, that is an incredible run of form since David Moyes came in.”

Moyes needs to start winning with Everton

The Blues current form is impressive on paper, they are not losing much but they have drawn six times out of the ten times that they have not dropped points.

They need to start winning matches if they want to start reaching the top half of the Premier League anytime soon.

That is not a realistic possibility this season with just seven matches left to play but next season, they need to turn those draws into victories.

There is every chance that they can once Moyes is given the license to transform the squad in the transfer market.

He is set to overhaul the Toffees’ attacking options, as Beto is the only attacker to thrive since he returned to Merseyside, with five goals in five matches before a barren run in the last five.

The likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jack Harrison and Dwight McNeil have struggled with poor form and injury issues and have not had the kind of impact that the Scotsman would have hoped that they would.

It is a crucial but exciting summer for the Blues as the takeover starts to take effect and they say goodbye to their old stadium.
