‘He caused this mess’: Richard Keys blames Leicester City figure for disastrous season
It’s hard to know where to start with Leicester City’s season.
Poor signings, terrible performances, questionable managerial appointments and fan unrest has culminated in Leicester waiting for their relegation from the Premier League to be confirmed.
Neither one of Steve Cooper or Ruud van Nistelrooy have impressed as Foxes manager this season but for BeIN Sports pundit Richard Keys, there is one figure that should be held accountable too.
Richard Keys singles out Jon Rudkin
If you asked supporters who they would pick out as the main problems this season, it would be the Leicester owners and even more so, Jon Rudkin.
As the role of director of football has become more important in modern football, criticism of Rudkin has only increased.
With Foxes fans continuously protesting against Rudkin, it seems that others are also highlighting his role in the disastrous season for the club.
Speaking out about the poor standard of the bottom three, Keys tweeted: “Leicester should follow Saints – sack van Nistelrooy now & start planning for next season. Jon Rudkin should consider his position as well – he caused the mess. What made either team think Juric & van Nistelrooy knew anything about a PL relegation battle in the first place?”
Will Jon Rudkin be at Leicester next season?
The simple answer is: nobody knows.
Rudkin reportedly has a close relationship with the club’s owners and has a huge say in the day-to-day operations.
Most notably, the former academy coach has been a major player in player negotiations – both in and out of the Foxes.
After another disappointing transfer window, including hefty sums spent on the likes of Oliver Skipp and the odd choice to sign Woyo Coulibaly in January, questions do have to be asked.
