Exclusive: The two Premier League stars Nottingham Forest want as well as Matheus Cunha
Nottingham Forest News can exclusively reveal that the Reds are interested in signing two additional strikers after Matheus Cunha.
The 25-year-old looks set to leave Wolves in the summer, with Forest placed right at the front of the queue to land him ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United.
Cunha signed a new contract with Wolves in the summer, however, Forest were immediately alerted to a £62.5 million release clause that will be activated in the summer.
Despite a season of relative struggle for the Molineux-based outfit, Cunha has been in fine form, bagging 15 goals with Wolves pulling well clear of the relegation zone in terms of points.
Now, it appears that Forest have their eyes on other strikers too this summer.
Nottingham Forest want two Premier League strikers alongside Cunha
Nottingham Forest News understands, courtesy of Graeme Bailey, that Forest are keen to sign Ipswich striker Liam Delap and Everton bagsman Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the transfer window.
Cunha is the top target for Forest but with a host of other clubs firmly in the mix to steal a march on the Reds, alternative options are being prepared.
Bailey told us: “We know Matheus Cunha is emerging as one of their top targets, and he will add something in the last third, not just as a striker.
“They want another central striker and they have been linked with a host of names. Dominic Calvert-Lewis and Liam Delap are among the latest names and Forest won’t be shy this summer.”
Cunha hasn’t made a decision on his next club just yet and it looks like he will absolutely be leaving Wolves when the window does reopen this summer.
Matheus Cunha stats 2024/25
It’s not just goals that Cunha brings to the table but he’s proved with Wolves that he can play anywhere in the final third of the pitch.
Cunha has a relationship with Morgan Gibbs-White already and it would be fascinating to see how those two could link up next season.
It’s great to hear that Forest have more than one iron in the fire and a busy summer looks a certainty should the Reds make the Champions League.
Cunha’s days are numbered at Wolves it would seem and it’s hard to imagine too many players turning Forest down in the summer, especially if Champions League football is on the table.
