The stars are aligning for Leicester City legend to replace Ruud van Nistelrooy imminently

Leicester City suffered yet another defeat on Monday evening.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men fell to a pitiful 3-0 defeat to Newcastle United at the King Power Stadium, which leaves them 15 points adrift from safety.

Leicester set a new embarrassing record as the first team to lose eight home games on the bounce without scoring a goal.

City have now lost 14 of their last 15 games and that’s sparked debate over whether Van Nistelrooy will leave.

And, the Dutchman’s post-match comments suggested that he could resign just over four months into his tenure.

Ruud van Nistelrooy could be replaced by Andy King

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Van Nistelrooy didn’t give the most convincing response when asked about his Leicester future.

“The most important thing is the club and these players, that’s what I would say for now.”

The Dutchman also added: “What I want to say is that it’s very disappointing. If I speak for myself, coming here with the intent to bring the club forward. So far it didn’t work.

“I tried different things, different players, different structures, without results. That’s what I can say about how I feel at this moment.”

It very much sounds like Van Nistelrooy is coming to the end of his disastrous spell as City manager and it wouldn’t at all be surprising to see Andy King installed as the caretaker manager for the remainder of the season.

King joined Van Nistelrooy’s coaching staff earlier this year after impressing with the academy, so Leicester legend would be the natural successor, at least for the short-term.

Leicester already eyeing Van Nistelrooy’s long-term successor

Over the last few weeks, reports have suggested Leicester are already carrying out due diligence on Van Nistelrooy’s replacement.

RC Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior has been linked to Leicester after a brilliant debut campaign in France.

Rosenior’s side reside in fourth place and could be plying their trade in the illustrious Champions League next season.

Sheffield Wednesday’s Danny Rohl has also emerged as a target for the Foxes, though, his lofty release clause could be an issue.
