Furious Leeds United boss Daniel Farke blasts linesman after Middlesbrough controversy
In their pursuit of promotion, Leeds United worked hard to earn three valuable points.
Despite Leeds United’s invaluable victory over Middlesbrough, their manager, Daniel Farke,
was left furious at linesman Darren Williams. Three points at the Riverside Stadium tonight took the
Whites back to the lead after shock slip-ups from promotion contenders Burnley and Sheffield United.

The sole goal came in the second minute when Daniel James bundled in Manor Solomon’s low ball.
The Wales international scored his 12th goal of the year with the goal.
Although Boro had their chances, the Whites dominated much of the first half. In the 34th minute,
crowd favourite Ao Tanaka’s goal was mistakenly chalked out for offside. Tanaka turned the ball in
from inside the six-yard box after Solomon sent a peach of a cross to the back post, but assistant
referee Darren Williams disallowed it. The Japan international was onside, according to replays.
In his technical area, Daniel Farke and his coaching team were devastated by the decision.
The second half was interesting, with both teams creating opportunities. James fizzed a risky ball
across the face of goal at the other end, while Finn Azaz and Delano Burgzorg tried their luck for Boro.
Replace In the last quarter, Patrick Bamford was not given a second. After Wilfried Gnonto’s excellent work, the striker scored, but the goal was also disallowed for offside.
“Returning to a clean sheet was essential today,” Farke told Sky Sports. In the past several games,
we have given up far too many goals. We were aware that we would face a top-tier, scorching, and dominant Middlesbrough team that prefers to be organised against the ball, but you can’t rule them
out. We got some luck in a few circumstances when they had their chances, and they are such a good side.
On the other hand, I believe it was crucial to have a lot of time during which we had control of the
game. We scored an incredible goal and were quite dangerous on the counterattack. Sorry, but we
did score three goals.
