‘Tricky one’ – Stoke City prediction made by former EFL player for Preston North End clash
Stoke City have been backed to win 1-0 away at Preston North End this weekend by former EFL player Sam Parkin.
Stoke City make the trip to Deepdale on Saturday as they look for another win. SCFC beat QPR 3-1 at home last time out after goals by Bae Jun-ho, Junior Tchamadeu and Million Manhoef.
The Potters are sat in 18th place in the Championship table. They are two points above the drop zone with seven fixtures left to play this season.
Former Luton Town attacker Parkin has said on the Benjamin Bloom YouTube channel: “That’s a tricky one isn’t it? I predicted Preston to lose tonight (against Derby County on Wednesday). Obviously they had a few issues going into the game against Villa the other day with some goalkeepers out now. I think I’ll go Stoke here by a goal to nil.”
Bloom added: “I’m going to go for a 0-0 in this one. I think Stoke leverage home games. If they can just pick up the odd point and the odd clean sheet away then it’ll be job done for them getting away from the bottom.”
Stoke City latest as they eye survival
It has been a turbulent campaign again for Stoke City and they will be hoping that they have enough in the tank to stay up.
The Potters sacked Steven Schumacher just five matches into this term and replaced him with Narcis Pelach.
However, Pelach’s time at the Bet365 Stadium didn’t go to plan and they sank down the league under his tenure.
The experienced Mark Robins was then brought in following his surprise exit from fellow second tier outfit Coventry City.
He has won five of his first 16 matches and his team have been stronger at home over recent times.
Will Stoke City have enough to stay up?
Stoke City need to keep picking up points over the coming weeks as they look to avoid slipping into the bottom three.
Preston North End don’t have too much to play for now and are in mid-table.
They lost against Aston Villa in the quarter-final of the FA Cup last Sunday before they were beaten 2-0 away at Derby County on Wednesday night.
Stoke City should be in confident mood after their win over QPR and Robins will want to see his team back up that result with another three points in Lancashire next.
