Callum Hudson-Odoi return date given as Ola Aina and Chris Wood updates emerge out of Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest are getting a knack for beating Manchester United in the Premier League.
The Reds won 1-0 at the City Ground last night to make it three league wins in succession and put a 10-point lead on the board over sixth place.
Beating United came at a cost, though.
In the 39th minute of the game, disaster struck for Forest, with Ola Aina limping out of the action to be replaced by Alex Moreno, with the Nigerian getting hurt under no challenge.
This came after Callum Hudson-Odoi was ruled out through a personal problem before the game, and Chris Wood already nursing a hip issue.
Nuno Espirito Santo provides updates on injured Forest players
It appears to be a mixed bag of updates from Espirito Santo after he result against Manchester United.
Aina is perhaps the worrying one, with the player going off the field under no challenge from a Red Devils player.
Espirito Santo said on the three stars in an interview with The Athletic: “I cannot say a lot, it’s always a concern when a player gets injured by himself. We will give him a scan and then see how he looks. I am not quite sure what the precise problem is. The scan will tell us more.
“We will keep monitoring Chris day by day. It’s getting better. Tomorrow, I hope it is better again. I think we will have Callum back for the weekend, yes I hope that we will.”
Espirito Santo now has to use squad
Forest have had some good luck with injuries this season but now at the business end things are getting a little precarious.
The subs against United came on and made an impact, with several players staking their claim for a place at the weekend.
Forest are so close to securing a place in next season’s Champions League but a few more solid performances are required from the Reds.
Losing Hudson-Odoi from the United game was a blow but he might be back on Saturday and the Reds will hope for positive news regarding Wood and Aina this week too.
