£3.4m man among players who need to leave Stoke City in the summer window
Stoke City are set for another busy summer transfer window, regardless of how the 2024/25 campaign climaxes.
Stoke City are currently fighting for survival in the Championship. SCFC picked up a big win against QPR last weekend to move four points clear and up to 18th, but the job is far from done.
Nonetheless, eyes have to be on the long-term too. The Potters have been on a slide ever since dropping from the Premier League and if similar fortunes lay ahead, fan unrest is only going to grow stronger.
With Mark Robins at the helm and a new head of recruitment in Ian Torrance, this summer is a vital one. Strong additions are needed but the club also need to shift the deadwood from the ranks.
With that said, we put forward three players who need to leave Stoke City in the summer…
Ryan Mmaee
Chances have come and gone for Mmaee at Stoke City but between injuries, a lack of form and competition for starting spots, he hasn’t been able to find a regular starting berth.
The 27-year-old will enter the last 12 months of his contract this summer and having struck a deal of £3.4m including add-ons for him, it could be time for the Potters to cut their losses.
Mmaee could benefit from a move back to the continent on a permanent basis.
Niall Ennis
Ennis has found form out on loan with Blackpool but at the Bet365 Stadium, things just haven’t worked out. The 25-year-old is another player entering the last 12 months of his contract and it feels as though a permanent move awaits.
Ennis has netted six goals and provided one assist in 13 League One games with the Tangerines and Steve Bruce has said he’s keen to strike a deal to bring him back.
To pave the way for new signings, SCFC should be sanctioning a move for Ennis.
Andre Vidigal
Another failed signing from the 2023/24 season is Andre Vidigal and having found chances hard too come by under Robins, he may well be looking to move on from Stoke City as well.
He’s another player the Potters would be entitled to a fee for, helping them raise funds for signings of their own in a bid to build towards a more successful 2025/26 campaign.
The versatile winger has found success in Portugal and Holland before, so the 26-year-old should have suitors away from SCFC.
