‘Standout performance’ – Stoke City man praised by Mark Robins after QPR win

Stoke City boss Mark Robins has said Junior Tchamadeu put in a ‘standout performance’ over the weekend.

Stoke City won 3-1 at home to QPR to boost their survival hopes. Tchamadeu got himself on the scoresheet for SCFC along with Bae Jun-ho and Million Manhoef.

The Potters are now sat in 18th place in the table. They are four points above the drop zone with seven fixtures left to play.

Robins has hailed Tchamadeu and has said, as per a report by StokeOnTrentLive: “Let’s take it steady because he’s a young player. He was trying to get off the pitch for about half of it! That’s one thing. He miraculously recovered when I said he was in tomorrow if he had any doubt over his injury so… He can’t come in injured on Monday either because that will be a fine.

“He’s got a lot of good attributes and he’s got to keep working. There are things that he doesn’t get right but he knows that. The fact he’s willing to work and run the way he does, today was a really standout performance and that has to be a level he has to try to maintain and try to raise all the time.”

Stoke City’s Junior Tchamadeu hailed

Stoke City signed Tchamadeu back in 2023 and he has since made 54 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with one goal.

The right-back is someone who likes to get up and down the flank and at the age of 21, he has bags of potential.

Tchamadeu is a Cameroon international with five caps under his belt so far in his career and he is under contract until June 2028.

He rose up through the academy ranks at Charlton Athletic and was a regular for the Addicks at various different youth levels before heading out the exit door at the age of 16.

Colchester United subsequently snapped him up and he broke into their first-team in 2020.

Tchamadeu went on to become a key player for the League Two side and played 95 matches altogether, finding the net on six occasions.

Stoke City then lured him up to the second tier a couple of years ago and he has since adapted well to life at that level.

What now for Stoke City?

The Potters will be relieved to have beaten QPR and that was a big three points.

Next up is an away trip to Deepdale this weekend to lock horns with Preston North End.
