Norwich City target 19-goal striker who Plymouth Argyle tried to sign in January
Norwich City are interested in a move for Notts County striker Alassana Jatta, according to EFL Analysis.
Norwich City are being linked with a swoop for the League Two man this summer. NCFC have the chance to bolster their ranks later this year when the new transfer window opens for business.
Jatta, 26, has scored 19 goals in all competitions this season, 16 of which have come in the league. Plymouth Argyle saw a bid rejected for him in January, as per The Guardian.
In this latest update, reporter Graeme Bailey has told EFL Analysis: “Jatta, currently the top-scorer in League Two with 17 goals, was the subject of a failed bid from Plymouth Argyle in January and a host of clubs are now tracking him.
“We can reveal Norwich, who are likely to lose their star striker Josh Sargent this summer, are one of those who have been doing work on the Gambia international.”
He added: “We also understand that Oxford United and Wycombe, who could need to replace their own star forward Richard Kone, have also looked at him in recent weeks.”
Norwich City target Notts County’s Alassana Jatta
Norwich City could see Jatta as someone to bolster their attacking ranks.
As Bailey alluded to, they risk losing Josh Sargent so will need to bring in a replacement if he goes. Jatta joined Notts County in 2024 and has since adapted well to life in England.
He started his career with spells at Nema City, Gambia Ports Authority, Sukuta United, Real de Banjul and Paide Linnameeskond.
The Gambia international was snapped up by Viborg in 2019 and went on to score 21 goals in 103 games during his time in Denmark. Jatta then linked up with the Magpies and found the net on five occasions during his first campaign at Meadow Lane.
Notts County risk losing him later this year but their focus right now will be on getting promoted to League One. Stuart Maynard’s side are sat in 6th place in the table and are inside the play-offs with Doncaster Rovers, AFC Wimbledon and Grimsby Town.
What next for Norwich City amid Alassana Jatta links?
Time will tell whether Norwich City end up lodging an official offer for Jatta.
The Canaries’ season is starting to fizzle out and although they are only five points off the top six, they face a lot of competition if they are to sneak in with only seven games left.
