Aston Villa Exclusive: Marcus Rashford agrees £130m deal in fee & wages
Marcus Rashford’s huge wages will be the stumbling block for Aston Villa as the cost of buying him from Man United this summer rises to £130million in total, sources have told Football Insider.
Rashford, 27, opened his account for Villa with a brace in the 3-0 win over Preston on Sunday (30 March).
He is on loan with the Midlands giants until the end of the season, with Villa holding a £40million option to sign him from Man United at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
The forward currently earns in excess of £350,000-a-week at United – meaning Villa or any other buyer face paying an extraordinary £130million over five years in wages and transfer fee if they sign him permanently.
Aston Villa could struggle to fund £130m Rashford deal
The Midlands club are covering the majority of that wage packet at present, as part of the agreement with Ruben Amorim’s side.
It is believed Rashford’s performances have given Unai Emery‘s side and his transfer team a decision to make with a summer move for the player expected regardless of whether he joins Villa.
Emery was coy about his future in the aftermath of the FA Cup win, insisting he didn’t want to “waste time” talking about the potential for Rashford to stay.
He suggested a decision on signing the England international could heavily depend on which European competition Villa will participate in next season.
As well as the brace at Preston, Rashford has also contributed four assists in his 10 appearances for Villa since joining in January.
The 62-cap star started games against Albania and Latvia for Thomas Tuchel’s England in the international break.
Aston Villa open talks with key man
Meanwhile, Aston Villa are making moves to secure the future of Boubacar Kamara – who has been a key man for Emery.
Recent reports suggested that Villa had yet to open talks with Kamara over a new contract but they have now changed that.
It has been reported that there is now an expectation that discussions will lead to the 25-year-old signing a new deal and committing his future to Aston Villa.
