Shock Signing: Championship Club Seals Sensational Two-Month Deal!
Ex-Premier League defender Erik Pieters has completed a transfer to Championship side Derby County.
The deal comes two months after the January transfer window closed.
The Dutch international has signed a deal with the Rams until the end of the 2024/25 season.
Pieters, now 36, does not have long left of this season with Derby County, but the move comes after he had been training with John Eustace’s squad for the past few weeks.
He had also been training with Middlesbrough before making the decision to join Eustace’s side.
In a club statement, it read: “Pieters, a free agent since the conclusion of his short-term deal with Luton Town earlier this term, brings added depth at left-back and centre-back for the remainder of the Sky Bet Championship season.
“He has made over 550 club career appearances, including 304 in English football for Stoke City, Burnley and West Bromwich Albion.”
Pieters has spent time at various English clubs, with Derby his fifth.
