Aston Villa player has new injury scan as manager sets return timeline
Villa’s Louie Barry is awaiting results of a scan as he pushes for a return to action at loan club Hull City
Hull City boss Ruben Selles has given an update on Louie Barry’s recovery from injury.
The Aston Villa youngster has been sidelined for just over a month after suffering a knee cartilage injury while on loan with the Tigers, in a Championship clash with Sunderland on February 22.
He returned to Villa to undergo his rehabilitation with Hull always hopeful the 21-year-old could make a return to action before the end of the season.
And a fresh update from Selles suggests Barry could be fit next month.
“He has had a scan today (Thursday) or yesterday (or Wednesday), and we are waiting for the update,” he told our sister title Hull Live.
“Maybe in one or two weeks, he can be with us, but it’s a kind of injury that we need to take daily, so we will know more in the next 24 hours.”
Barry began the season on loan at Stockport County in League One, scoring 15 goals in 23 league matches, before being recalled by Villa and loaned out to Hull for the rest of the season.
He had played four times for the Tigers before suffering his injury.
The former England under-18 international scored in his only senior appearance to date for Villa in an FA Cup defeat by Liverpool in January 2021.
He has subsequently had loan spells with Ipswich, Swindon, MK Dons, Salford and two separate stints with Stockport.
