Three players Leicester City could replace Jamie Vardy with this summer, including 12-goal star
As relegation to the Championship looms, Leicester City still need to answer multiple questions regarding many players’ futures.
Following a disastrous Premier League campaign, Leicester City need a complete rebuild in the summer transfer window, and that could mean losing some of their key players.
Bilal El Khannouss is already wanted by Arsenal while Wilfred Ndidi has interest from Galatasaray but most heartbreakingly of all, Jamie Vardy’s contract expires in June 2025.
The 38-year-old was in a similar predicament last year when the Foxes were gunning for the Championship title, choosing to sign a one-year extension.
But now, as Vardy’s future remains in doubt, here are three strikers Leicester could replace him with in the long term.
Three strikers who could replace Jamie Vardy
Bojan Miovski
The first striker Leicester should consider signing to fill Vardy’s eventual void is Macedonian forward Bojan Miovski.
In the summer transfer window, Miovski completed a £6.8 million transfer to Celta Vigo after starring for Aberdeen in the Scottish Premier League.
He plundered 26 goals in all competitions for Aberdeen in 2023/24, including 44 goals in 98 games for the club, which earned him that transfer to Vigo.
Miovski has since struggled in Spain, netting just four times but a potential move to the Championship could see him rediscover his clinical edge with more opportunities to score.
Emmanuel Emegha
Arguably the most expensive and ambitious of the three players listed, but Leicester should go all out to sign Emmanuel Emegha from Strasbourg.
The 22-year-old is starring under former Hull City manager Liam Rosenior with 11 goals in 21 Ligue 1 appearances this term.
Emegha, who possesses electric pace like prime Vardy, would be a nightmare for Championship defences to deal with, both technically and physically.
A deal for the Netherlands under-21 star would be difficult to complete as he’s attracting some big Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, but he’s certainly the perfect Vardy replacement on paper.
Franculino Dju
In February, Leicester were linked with Franculino Dju, the young striker currently ripping it up for FC Midtjylland in the Danish Super Liga.
It’s clear to see why the Foxes were interested as the 20-year-old has plundered 17 goal involvements in just 31 appearances in 2024/25.
Remarkably, the Guinea-Bissau star was the highest-scoring teenager during the 2023/24 campaign, scoring 17 in 33 games.
As Leicester have experienced success signing players from the Danish market, most notably goalkeeper Mads Hermansen, City should now look to prise Dju to the King Power Stadium.
