View: Mathys Tel of Tottenham scores a spectacular brace for France U21
On Monday, Mathys Tel, a Tottenham forward on loan, demonstrated why he is so highly
regarded by scoring two outstanding goals as France Under-21s crushed Slovakia 4-0.
Given everything that has transpired at Tottenham this season, both on and off the field,
Mathys Tel joined the team at a turbulent moment. The 19-year-old is still adapting to his
new surroundings and is yet to show too many glimpses of his quality in a Spurs shirt.
However, Ange Postecoglou is confident that Tel will evolve into a top-class player once he
gets used to Tottenham’s system and the physicality of Premier League football. Mathys
Tel shows why Tottenham want to sign him Wilson Odobert was the hero for France’s
Under-21 side in their win over England last week, with Mathys Tel being restricted to a
cameo from the bench in that fixture. However, it was the Tottenham newcomer who got
the nod to start on the left against Slovakia, with Odobert dropping to the bench.
Tel found the back of the net twice in the first half to ensure France took a healthy lead into the interval.
