New Zealand’s Wellington (AP) – After being forced off the field during New Zealand’s World Cup qualifying victory against New Caledonia on Monday due to a right hip injury, Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood was awaiting the results of scans. With a score of 0-0 in the Oceania qualifying final, Wood was substituted in the 53rd minute. After defeating Japan 3-0, New Zealand advanced to the 2026 World Cup as the second-place team.Right now, that’s where the suffering is,” he remarked. “I felt it on that side so I´ll get it checked over and hopefully it is nothing too major and hopefully it´s just impact.” Wood will travel back to England after the scans are finished in order to rejoin Nottingham Forest, who play Brighton in Saturday’s FA Cup quarterfinal. Wood has 18 goals this season, good for fourth place in the Premier League.
