Attacker makes Leeds United transfer ‘decision’ – He would be a good squad addition at a cut-price deal
Leeds United are focused on securing automatic promotion to the Premier League with eight games remaining in the Championship season. Promotion will lead to a squad overhaul and signing a striker or two is likely to be a huge priority for the summer. Leeds have already been linked with several attackers and one such player is already discussing a potential summer switch.
Daniel Farke and his Leeds United players will have their eyes peeled on the Swansea City game at Elland Road on Saturday as they push towards automatic promotion to the Premier League.
However, the recruitment team have already gone to business to identify potential transfer targets and several decisions have already been made about what they want to do in the summer.
Leeds are almost certain to sign two strikers in the next transfer window if they get promoted and several forwards have already been linked with a move to Elland Road ahead of next season.
Norwich City striker Josh Sargent is one of the forwards Farke is keen on signing and the forward is already talking about a summer switch away from Carrow Road.
Leeds United target expects ‘few options’ on his table in the summer
Farke has been a fan of Sargent for a while and the Leeds boss has been interested in signing the forward for Leeds since he arrived at Elland Road.
Sargent, who has three years left on his Norwich contract, is keen to move on from the Canaries with the club unlikely to get promoted to the Premier League this season.
The striker is expecting to evaluate the options on his table in the summer and admitted that a decision will be made keeping both his professional and personal life in mind.
“I think there will be a few options this summer if something were to happen”, Sargent told the Guardian.
“It’s a decision that me and my wife are gonna have to make together, and whatever makes the most sense for our family, as well as my career.”
Farke likes the Norwich City striker
The Leeds manager is a fan of the forward and has been keen to bring him to Elland Road for a while but that has not been possible yet.
However, if the Whites get promoted to the Premier League and Norwich remain in the Championship, it would be a great opportunity for the Leeds boss to get his hands on the United States international.
Sargent scored just twice in his previous 26 appearances in the Premier League but the Leeds boss would back himself to get more out of him in a better team.
But if he is a target for Leeds, he would not be the only striker they would be signing and they are likely to invest big on a more proven commodity.
Sargent would be a good squad option to have, even in the Premier League, and could provide physicality up front that the Whites would need in the top flight.
