Eliezer Mayenda shares a new objective following a fantastic climb for Sunderland and Spain.

During the international break, Sunderland forward Eliezer Mayenda described his debut

appearance for Spain’s under-21s as a “amazing feeling”.

The 19-year-old came on as a 75th-minute replacement in Friday’s 2-2 draw with Czechia U21s in Lorca.

Mayenda told his club’s website that making his debut was an incredible sensation.

It’s my first call-up, so I’m thrilled and honored to have made my debut with the under-21s.

I’ve worked hard every day, and this is a wonderful reward for my efforts.

It’s also fantastic news for my own progress.“Mayenda discussed his move to the U21s squad,

saying, “I was with the U17s two or three years ago, but this is my first time with the U21s.

It’s a significant step forward in my career, but it’s also a fascinating challenge because

I’ll be learning from and competing against some of Spain’s top players. I want to be a better player.

I plan to learn as much as possible every day while I’m there, both in training and during matches.

My goal is to improve with every opportunity I get.”Mayenda, who was born in Zaragoza,

has been promoted to his country’s U21 team after appearing three times for the U17s in 2022.

The attacker could make his second appearance for his new team on Tuesday evening,

when they face Germany U21s in Darmstadt.
