ALEX Neil is fast approaching the three-month mark as Millwall head coach after a chaotic start to his Lions career.
From the off, Neil had to contend with replacing a club legend in Neil Harris, fielding constant questions about Romain Esse’s future just a week into his tenure, with arguably the Lions’ most talented attacker departing for a club-record sale shortly after, and taking over a team during the relentless festive period, when games come thick and fast – giving him little time to work with his squad on the training ground.
Two days after his appointment on December 30, he took charge of his first game – a 1-0 loss to Gary Rowett’s Oxford United at The Den, a result that meant Millwall had won just one of their last eight games and scored in only three of them.
