Simon King reveals ticket pricing strategy and tells Stoke City ‘that’s the reality’
Stoke City have called on fans to create a ‘partisan’ atmosphere for the club’s Championship run in.
Mark Robins’ team plays four more home games during which they will seek to pull away from the relegation zone – with results at the bet365 deemed as vital to their prospects.
With that in mind the club have announced a pricing strategy for games against Luton Town on April 8 and Sheffield Wednesday on April 18, intended to fill the ground.
The Tuesday night clash with the Hatters smacks of a six-pointer with Luton in 22nd position, four points and three places behind Stoke.
Chief operating officer Simon King confirmed the plans in an interview with the club website.
He said: “Focusing on the last four games of the season that we have at home, clearly they are huge games for the football club, and we find ourselves in a relegation battle, which is not where we wanted to be, but that’s the reality
“We’ve got to make the best of that situation and try and get the stadium as full as possible so we’ve looked at two games in terms of pricing – the Luton game will be a Category C game with tickets from £20 and then we’re putting a huge amount of energy into the Sheffield Wednesday game on Good Friday.
“Tickets will be £10 for adults and £5 for juniors, and that will be for all supporters, and we’re really hoping to get the place as full as we possibly can, which should hopefully be a partisan atmosphere and give us the best opportunity to get the result that we all want.”
King also confirmed the next fan forum will not be held until the end of the season. After discussions between John Coates, Jon Walters and Mark Robins, he said they are in agreement to concentrate on first securing Championship survival.
