Popular Christopher, dubbed “Mr Duke Street”, will make his final journey down Duke Street, alongside the Dennistoun Rangers Flute Band, in the East End of Glasgow before a private service will be held for family and friends.

Holly’s social media post read: “Christopher Potter tragically passed away on the 6th March 2025. He was a beloved husband to Holly, a loving father, son, brother and friend to many.

“Christopher will be sadly missed by all that knew him. Christopher will take his final walk along duke street at 10am along with the Dennistoun Rangers Flute Band.

“Funeral service will take place at Daldowie Crematorium on Saturday 29th March at 11.00am. To which all family and friends are all respectfully invited.

“A special thanks to Alex Black Funeral Care for looking after Christopher on his return to the United Kingdom. Rest Easy Potts.”

Christopher, roofer with SLK Roofing, was hit by a vehicle while crossing a road. He was then struck by another car. He was returning to his hotel by taxi after leaving an entertainment venue when he stopped the taxi to withdraw money.

According to local reports, one of the motorists was jailed for “murder by negligence” while the other was released on probation.

Holly previously paid a heartbreaking tribute to Christopher who she described as a “devoted family man”.

She said: “We are all absolutely devastated by the news about Christopher.

“He was a hard-working, devoted family man who always had time for those close to him. Never short of a smart or funny remark, he will be missed by everyone who knew him and will forever be in our hearts.

“He touched the lives of everyone he met, lived his life to the full and was the life and soul of every party. He loved singing on the karaoke, and it was impossible to get the mic off him. He also loved his food and was well-known for sharing pics of his dinner amongst family and friends.

“As well as his family and friends, the other love of Christopher’s life was his football team, Glasgow Rangers. The only comfort we have at the moment is that he was following the team he loved when he passed away.”

His young children Jak, 20, Millie, 13, and Teddy, 6, and wife Holly were invited to Rangers triumphant home leg against Jose Mourinho’s side.

Rangers goalie Jack Butland reached out to the family to meet up with six-year-old Teddy and gave him his shirt signed by the entire team. Midfielder Tom Lawrence has also given the youngster his shirt from the first leg.

Fans paid tribute to Christopher with a roaring applause during the 40th minute of the game. Banners were also held up in his memory which read: “With the angels you’ll be singing, our very special friend. Christopher Potter 1984-2025.”

After the match, Holly said: “I was totally overwhelmed at the outpouring of emotion.

“The pain we are all feeling at the moment is indescribable, but there is some comfort knowing how well loved and well-thought of Christopher was.”

A fundraiser set up to support his family has since raised over £180,000. Rangers captain James Tavernier, interim manager Barry Ferguson and goalie Jack Butland were amongst those who donated to the appeal.

A Rangers spokesperson said: “Christopher will be missed by everyone who knew him and the thoughts of everyone at Rangers are with his family and friends at this time.”
