Harry Kane sendet eine Botschaft, als der Stürmer von Bayern München mit einem Tor gegen Albanien einen weiteren Meilenstein für England erreicht

England captain Harry Kane shared a message of pride after hitting another goal-scoring landmark in Friday’s World Cup qualifying win over Albania.

Kane scored England’s late second goal in the victory that kicked off the Thomas Tuchel era in the right way, taking down Declan Rice’s chipped pass into the box and finding the bottom corner of the net. It was his 70th England goal in his 104th senior international appearance.

Kane captioned his post: “So proud to have scored 70 goals for England!! A brilliant night at Wembley and a strong start to World Cup qualifying. Congrats, Myles Lewis-Skelly on a really special first England appearance and goal and to Dan Burn on the debut!”

Kane is already England’s all-time record goal-scorer and the country’s first player – male or female – to reach the 70-goal milestone. He broke Wayne Rooney’s previous record tally by scoring his 54th England goal in a Euro 2024 qualifier against Italy in March 2023, adding 16 goals in the two years since then. Among all active European players, only Robert Lewandowski (85), Romelu Lukaku (86) and Cristiano Ronaldo (135) have scored more at senior international level than Kane.

Kane shows no signs of slowing down at this stage of his career, scoring another 32 goals for Bayern Munich so far this season. But, due to turn 32 in July, he would have to go at some pace to become the first player to get to 100 England goals. Kane has netted a goal per game or better in an England shirt in 2019, 2021 and 2023. He’d have to be performing at that exceptional rate for another two or three years – depending on how far England progress at the 2026 World Cup – to hit the century.
