Player’s ‘declaration of war’ – Doesn’t want to give up as Fulham exit turns sour
João Palhinha spent two years at Fulham before leaving them for Bayern Munich in July 2024.
Fulham took the midfielder from Sporting in 2022, and he impressed in his debut season under Marco Silva’s orders. This convinced Bayern to bet on him in the summer of 2023, but the move collapsed on deadline day.
Bayern returned for the 29-year-old last summer and were able to complete his transfer from Fulham.
The Portugal international has played 19 games so far for Bayern but hasn’t replicated his Fulham form in the Bundesliga. Sky Deutschland now take a look at his situation as his decision to leave the Premier League club hasn’t worked out the way he wanted.
Sky state Bayern paid Fulham €51m to buy him and he hasn’t lived up to the price tag so far. In fact, Palhinha has been disappointing this season, and an injury and illness forced him to spend close to three months on the sidelines.
His struggles have led to rumours of a possible exit in the summer window. The former Fulham man told SportBild that he isn’t planning to leave despite struggling at Bayern.
“I’m not interested in the rumours about leaving. I’ll do everything I can to show why the club spent the money on me. I’m not thinking about leaving,” he said.
Sky claim the comments are a ‘declaration of war’ from the player, and he’s prepared to fight to save his Bayern Munich career.
