Sheffield Wednesday won’t be given up their modest prospects of a play-off finish yet. Despite

their slight decline, SWFC still has a chance to place in the top six.

The defeat to rivals Sheffield United in the last game before the break leaves the Owls 12th in the Championship table, six points off the play-offs with eight games to spare.
Although it’s a big ask, Wednesday appears to be getting a much-needed injury boost in time for

their return to action against Cardiff City at the end of this month.

Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl expressed his optimism that long-time absentee Akin Famewo will be eligible for selection following the break in an interview with The Star.

A big boost for Rohl

It will be a huge help to Sheffield Wednesday and manager Rohl to have Famewo back.

The former Norwich City youngster made his way into the starting XI in the early stages of this

season and looked to be a great fit for the role on the left-hand side of the back three. He had

found some solid form before injury hit against Portsmouth almost five months ago.
Famewo’s return is well-timed because Max Lowe, the deputy left-sided centre-back, has filled

in admirably but is also currently a concern due to injury.
