Haji Wright of Coventry City may have been limited by injury this season,
but his magnificent hat-trick against Sunderland reminded the division of what the American is capable of.
The 26-year-old started this season where he left off last year, netting seven goals in his first 15 games.
Unfortunately, an ankle ligament injury suffered in early November sidelined
him for the rest of 2024 and the start of the New Year.
However, after gradually increasing his minutes in recent games, he made his first start at the
CBS Arena on Saturday under Frank Lampard. The head coach’s faith was swiftly rewarded
when he tormented the Black Cats’ defence in a superb effort to help the Sky Blues defeat their play-off rivals 3-0.
Coventry now have eight games to cement their play-off berth, and a fully healthy and firing
Wright might be the difference in getting them over the finish line.
Haji Wright believed to attract a £15-20 million price tag.
Wright is an all-around fantastic footballer who provides far more than simply goals,
and if teams around Europe notice this, he might be in high demand this summer.
Speaking to Football League World about how the American is Coventry’s most prized asset,
Sky Blues analyst Chris Deez expressed anxiety about losing him during the forthcoming transfer window.
“Given recent developments, I believe it is clear whose player we can sell for the greatest
money this summer: Haji Wright. I believe you would have said that before his four-month injury layoff as well.
