‘By the time he leaves’ – Chris Davies lauds ‘under the radar’ Birmingham City star
A major overhaul of the BCFC playing squad was undertaken in an attempt to return to the Championship at the first time of asking, and the money spent and calibre of the players
brought in by the Blues had many picking them to cruise to the League One title. As of right now,
they are top of the table and 12 points clear of second place with a game in hand, having lost just
three times all season. Birmingham City manager Chris Davies has singled out Alex Cochrane for
high praise amid his impressive “under the radar” displays.

At St. Andrew’s, big names like Jay Stansfield, Christoph Klarer, Tomoki Iwata, and others have garnered the most attention, but head coach Chris Davies has singled out “under the radar” left-
back Alex Cochrane for high praise. In an interview with Birmingham Live, Davies stated that the summer acquisition “deserves a huge amount of credit” for keeping up such high standards during
a demanding season, and the BCFC chief said that Cochrane will be remembered as “a real fans’ favourite” when he leaves the team.
A Birmingham City ever-present
Perhaps one of Birmingham City’s less spectacular summer acquisitions was Cochrane. He did,
however, enter as one of several players above Legaue One calibre and was making an impression
with Hearts in the Scottish Premiership.
However, it’s possible that he didn’t anticipate playing such a significant part. It was anticipated
that the former Brighton & Hove Albion player will compete with Lee Buchanan for a starting
position.
