Aston Villa midfielder launches sneaky Man United dig in new Marcus Rashford verdict

Aston Villa captain John McGinn believes Marcus Rashford has rediscovered his smile since joining the club from Manchester United.

The Scotland international praised the 27-year-old, stating he delivered his best performance for Villa in a 3-0 victory against Club Brugge last week. Rashford generated six ‘huge’ chances in the FA Cup win over Cardiff City, which was the same number as he had all season at Old Trafford. Marco Asensio, on loan from PSG, has also been a breath of fresh air at Villa Park, and McGinn believes they are two players “every club in the country would take” if they could.

“Marcus and Marco showed glimpses that proved they are at the top level,” McGinn told The Mirror.

“They may have lost their way for a variety of reasons, but they will both receive love and support from us, as well as colleagues who will work hard for them.

“We want them to feel happy again. Every time you see them, they smile. That’s when you know footballers are happy and performing well.

“In that game against Club Brugge, Marcus had his best performance in the second half and was a persistent threat.

“If we can get those two firing, they’re a pair that every club in the country would take.”
