Nottingham Forest sent incredible transfer message by £25m star, five goal contributions in one match

Nottingham Forest are going in search of Champions League football from what has already been an amazing season.

The Reds are sitting third in the Premier League and the team have held that position since a 2-0 win over Everton all the way back in December.

It’s remarkable what Forest have achieved in such a short space of time, with the Reds deducted four points and plunged into the relegation zone just 12 months ago today.

Forest have nine games to go in order to secure Champions League football and with Europe very much a possibility, the links to players for the summer are already starting to emerge.

Evangelos Marinakis was desperate for a striker in January and perhaps forward players will be the order of the day for Forest when the window opens.

Nottingham Forest target Igor Paixao scores hat-trick

Forest have been linked with Paixao already and a number of Premier League clubs are monitoring his situation.

If Forest had any representatives watching the Feyenoord winger at the weekend then perhaps the Reds are already preparing their next move.

Paixao was in fine form at the weekend, scoring a hat-trick and claiming two assists as the Eredivisie giants smashed FC Twente 6-2.

The 24-year-old played on the left-wing and it’s probably fair to say that Forest will go in search of another wide player during the summer.

Jota Silva scored at the weekend but has been inconsistent this season, whilst Ramon Sosa hasn’t even been getting on the bench just lately.

The versatile forward would be a useful addition to the Premier League and also has experience playing in European competition.

Forest are going to need some players with that level of experience in their ranks and Paixao fits the bill quite perfectly.

It’s going to cost around £25 million to land the winger in the summer and that doesn’t feel like a price that will be too steep for Forest.

The challenge might be convincing him that the Reds aren’t going to be a flash in the pan and if Champions League football is secured that shouldn’t be an issue at all.
