An explanation of the Everton argument as the Burnley move might cost millions
Even if Everton’s problems with points deduction may be over, they may yet experience some financial hardship.
Burnley has filed a compensation claim against the team because of their 2021–2022 Premier League relegation.
Burnley’s action stems from the fact that the team finished in the bottom three during a season in which
Everton was found to have violated the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations.
Everton acknowledged the violation, and the result was a deduction of points for the following season.
Due to their PSR violations, Everton had severe hardship. They were fined eight points following an appeal,
and they received two point deductions for two different seasons during the same 2023–2024 season.

Despite the football team’s financial problems and ownership turmoil, the team was able to avoid relegation.
Now that the Toffees have a new owner following The Friedkin Group’s successful takeover in December,
and their survival this season is all but guaranteed, the PSR nightmare seems to be behind them.
