Spurs Are “Talking” About Letting a £30 Million Star Join Premier League Rivals
Wilson Odobert, a winger, is open to leaving Tottenham Hotspur for better playing time,
and the two teams are negotiating a possible loan agreement, according to Fichajes.net.
Spurs defeated AZ Alkmaar 3-1 with Odobert at the double, securing his team’s spot in the
UEFA Europa League quarterfinals. After missing months of action, the French forward recently
returned to Ange Postecoglou’s first team and put on a strong performance.
The 20-year-old’s progress after joining the North London club last summer was hampered by his
absence from October to February following hamstring surgery. He left Burnley for Ange Postecoglou’s
team in a £25 million to £30 million deal, but Brighton may be interested in loaning him.
Spurs Examine the Loan for Odobert
Brighton is a fan of the France U23 international, and Odobert might be sent out on loan for additional
first-team appearances. Talks between the two teams are reportedly “ongoing,” and he would be open to
a temporary transfer to continue his growth at the Amex.
The Seagulls have a youthful team that is thriving and have a history of producing elite players. Carlos Baleba,
21, and Yankuba Minteh, 20, have both excelled in Fabian Hurzeler’s stellar debut season, and Odobert might
work well in the German’s system. Since joining the Lilywhites, he has been praised for his “rapid” style of playing.
Following his brace in the Europa League, Postecoglou expressed his satisfaction with the
French young player and praised his character. However, given that Son Heung-min is still his starting
left-winger and that Mathys Tel will be joining from Bayern Munich in January,
there is no indication that he will give him a significant part in his team.
