Tom Wagner, the head of Birmingham City, calls a crucial meeting to “turn a multi-billion dollar investment into a reality.”

Yesterday, Tom Wagner traveled to Downing Street for high-level discussions regarding the

proposed Sports Quarter in Birmingham City.

In the center of the Second City, Wagner’s Knighthead Capital Management plans to construct a

Sports Quarter that will include a stadium, cutting-edge training facilities for all Blues teams,

and entertainment areas. Knighthead revealed this time last year that they had acquired the

48-acre site in east Birmingham that was once known as Birmingham Wheels. As a result,

they now possess more than 60 acres in that area of the city. Although progress has been more

sluggish than Wagner would have preferred, the chairman of the Blues has discussed his plans

for the city with government representatives during his previous two trips to Birmingham.

Wagner and West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker visited No. 10 Downing Street on Wednesday to urge

Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his Labour Government to assist them. Parker wrote in a post on X:

“Tom and I aim to start growth and investment in the area by launching a new Sports Quarter in Birmingham.

“To make this multi-billion dollar investment a reality, we traveled to No. 10 today.”
