Russell Martin reacts live on air to the Rangers manager appointment in a straightforward manner.
Russell Martin, who has been unemployed since Southampton fired him in December,
has been connected to Rangers’ managerial opening.
As soon as the Light Blues parted ways with former manager Phillipe Clement, they recognized
Martin as a viable candidate for the dugout duties at Ibrox. Ahead of Sunday’s Old Firm Derby,
Rangers are 16 points behind league leaders Celtic after a challenging domestic campaign.
Clement’s tenure came to an end on Saturday, February 22, after the team lost 2-0 at home to St Mirren.
Barry Ferguson, the interim manager, took over.
Martin’s position on the Rangers vacant
The former Southampton manager made an appearance as a guest on Sky Sports’ Monday Night
Football broadcast of the March 10 Premier League match between Newcastle and West Ham.
“Where will we see you next, Russell?” Martin was asked by host David Jones during the episode.
“Are you expecting to play in the Premier League again, or will it be the
Championship and you’ll have to travel overseas?
“There may have been connections to Rangers in Scotland.”
