Mark Robins explains the seriousness of Stoke City’s pregame position against Blackburn Rovers.
As the battle to stay in the Championship moves into a home game against Blackburn Rovers, Mark Robins is aware that Stoke City cannot focus on anything but results.
Following a gut-punch in the 97th minute of Saturday’s match against Coventry, where they rallied from a 2-0 deficit to a 2-2 draw only to lose 3-2, Stoke will return to the bet365 Stadium tomorrow night at 8 p.m. Robins acknowledged that his team had paid a price for not taking more chances at one end and giving them up too readily due to naivete at the other, but he was not ready to conclude that they had been unfortunate.
And he is aware of the implications in a crowded league table if they can begin correcting that on Wednesday night before visiting Millwall, home of Alex Neil, on Saturday.
“It would be nice to pick up six points in our final two games before the international break, but we need to start winning games,” Robins stated. Wherever possible, we must begin to gather these points.
“Hiding behind anything is pointless. Yes, since the dynamics of the group are now shifting, performances will get better. Those performances will become better, but we must work hard. We truly need to put in a lot of effort.
