Leeds United predicted XI vs Millwall as Jayden Bogle decision made amid suspension risk

Daniel Farke has indicated that he will not be rotating Jayden Bogle out of the side for Wednesday’s match with Millwall despite the right-back being a card away from a two-game suspension.

Bogle has amassed nine Championship yellow cards this season with matchday 37 the cutoff point for ten bookings incurring a two-game ban. The midweek game with Millwall is Leeds United ’s 37th league match of the season.

“No, not due to suspension risk,” Farke said when asked about if was tempted to drop Bogle for this week’s game. “I have hope he can come through without a yellow card. We need his drive going forward.”

And so it could be that the back five stays the same. With centre-back alternatives Ethan Ampadu and Max Wober unavailable until after the March international break, first-choice pairing Pascal Struijk and Joe Rodon still start by default in front of Illan Meslier.

Despite the poor showing against Portsmouth on Sunday, Junior Firpo went close to scoring twice and it seems he will retain his place. Farke admitted Ao Tanaka did not have his best game against Portsmouth but underlined his faith in him during Monday’s press conference.

He could start in midfield alongside Joe Rothwell, who would replace Ilia Gruev. The Bulgarian was described by Farke as United’s best midfielder on Sunday but it was clear United missed an attacking threat from midfield.

That includes from Brenden Aaronson but with there being no direct number 10 alternative – and those who have started there in his absence failing to make a lasting impression – it seems clear the American will start again in midweek.

Manor Solomon and Daniel James are arguably the most in-form wingers in the division and it is unlikely that either will be dropped any time soon. Despite his misses on Sunday, Farke made sure to highlight Joel Piroe’s previous good work and he is set to start once more.

Predicted Leeds United XI: Meslier; Bogle, Strujik, Rodon; Fripo; Tanaka, Rothwell; James, Aaronson, Solomon; Piroe
