JUST IN: Nottingham Forest’s anticipated lineup as Nuno receives a crucial call for the match against Ipswich Town

Nottingham Forest is preparing for a last-ditch effort to qualify for the Champions League.

The third-place Reds have ten Premier League games left, which puts them in a strong position to earn a spot in Europe. But as they try to cross the finish line, Nuno Espirito Santo’s team won’t be taking anything for granted.

Throughout the season, the Forest head coach has been careful to avoid complacency, and he will continue to do so before this weekend’s trip to play Ipswich Town. When the visitors play the relegation-threatened team at Portman Road on Saturday (3pm kickoff), they will know they cannot afford to slow down.

The Tractor Boys might be third-bottom in the standings but they have already proved they will present a stiff challenge for Nuno’s men. The Reds required extra-time and penalties to get past Ipswich in the FA Cup last week.

Following a decisive victory over Manchester City over the weekend, Forest enters their penultimate game before the international break. At the City Ground, Callum Hudson-Odoi scored the game’s lone goal to secure the three points against the defending champions.

Although their next opponents are battling at the other end of the table, it would be shocking if Nuno made too many changes to his East Anglia lineup. After all, the Reds have benefited greatly from steadiness for the majority of this season.

There is essentially only one area of the field where there is disagreement regarding who should be selected, if Nuno decides to remain with his best potential starting lineup. But maybe it’s not as much of a problem as it was before Saturday’s exhibition.

When the squad was revealed prior to the match against City, there were concerns over Nicolas Dominguez’s position in the squad. After a few strong performances, many supporters would have preferred to see Ryan Yates be selected as Elliot Anderson’s midfield partner.

However, before Saturday, Argentine Dominguez had not been playing at his best. But by playing an incredible game for the better part of 70 minutes before being replaced, he more than justified Nuno’s decision to continue with him and use the same starting lineup from the previous league match, which ended in a 0-0 tie with Arsenal.

One may argue for sticking with the same squad this weekend. Why fix something isn’t broken, after all?

However, Nuno might consider the fact that Yates scored against Ipswich in the FA Cup. After the home team had gone behind in the fifth round match, the Nigel Doughty Academy alumnus came up with the crucial equalizer. If Nuno wants to further shake things up, Danilo and Ibrahim Sangare are also options in midfield.

Projected Forest starting XI vs Ipswich: Sels; Aina, Milenkovic, Murillo, Williams; Dominguez, Anderson; Elanga, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood.
