Derby County injury update as John Eustace addresses defender concern
John Eustace says defender Sondre Langas is “touch and go” for Derby County’s clash against Coventry City tomorrow night.
The Norwegian had to be replaced in the second half of Saturday’s 2-1 win over Blackburn with what looked to be a hamstring problem.
That has put him in doubt of being available tomorrow night when Derby welcome a Coventry side who are flying high at the top of the Championship.
And issuing an update ahead of Frank Lampard’s return to Pride Park tomorrow night, Eustace said: “Sonny had to come off, unfortunately.
“He will be touch and go for tomorrow. We have to remember that when we signed him that he arrived after finishing his season.
“He didn’t have a pre-season so he’s done very well to get through these last three or four games.
“Hopefully he will be available tomorrow night, but we have to remember he is coming back through a pre-season spell.
“The Championship is ferocious but the way he has gone about his business has been very pleasing.”
Langas is one of 10 players who are on the treatment table ahead of the visit of the Sky Blues.
Derby picked up four injuries last week with Lars-Jorgen Salvesen (knee), Ryan Nyambe (hamstring), Kemar Roofe (hamstring) and Ben Osborn (hamstring).
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing (knee) is facing a battle to be fit while David Ozoh (thigh), Curtis Nelson (knee), Dajaune Brown (hamstring) and Corey Blackett-Taylor (hamstring) are out with that quartet suffering long-term issues.
