Josh Coburn’s summer transfer status with Millwall is sealed as the Middlesbrough loanee scores once more.
After Josh Coburn scored their game-winning goal against Watford on Saturday,
Alex Neil confirmed that Millwall wants to sign the Middlesbrough striker in the summer.
Coburn scored his fourth goal of the season for the Lions after just recovering from an injury.
Boro also benefited somewhat from the goal, as Watford lost and were unable to pass Michael Carrick’s team in the table.
Following a season marred by injuries the previous season, Coburn was sent to Millwall this season.
He’s not had much better luck this year and has been restricted to only six league starts for the South Burmondsey team.
But with four goals, Coburn is excelling in the capital and they’ve now revealed their wish to make his Den stay a permanent one.
“It was a difficult decision today, but I think that I need to get Josh minutes to get him up to speed,”
Neil said to Southwark News after starting Coburn over Mihailo Ivanovic. In order to have solid
choices at the top end of the pitch, we also want to attempt to keep Josh here past where we are right now.
Since I’ve arrived, the two strikers have been fantastic for me. I just need to make sure that
I try to divide the playing time, and occasionally I’ll play two if I need to. He was outstanding,
in my opinion, especially in the second half.
