Middlesbrough have been dealt a devastating injury blow to Liverpool loanee Ben Doak,
with word that Boro’s star winger has returned to Anfield having had surgery.
The Northern Echo made this disclosure on Thursday, following the Scotland international’s
thigh injury during training prior to Middlesbrough’s Tees-Wear derby against Sunderland on February 3.
It was believed that the 19-year-old had escaped a serious injury setback and would soon be
back taking down Michael Carrick’s right flank in the Championship.
Carrick hasn’t completely ruled out Doak joining Boro again before the season ends,
but that may be more out of hope than anticipation.
“Big miss”—Middlesbrough’s play-off decision following Ben Doak’s injury “Ben Doak
has undergone surgery and returned to Liverpool for rehabilitation; he’s expected to
miss a large chunk of the last 11 games of the season,” we questioned Jasper Hudson,
our Middlesbrough fan commentator. Given his distinct drive and skill set out wide,
do you believe that Middlesbrough’s play-off ambitions are all but over,
or does Boro still have what it takes to challenge for a spot in the top six?
“Ben Doak is an amazing player, and he’s been great for us this season,” Hudson stated.
