Wolves player ratings vs Everton: Marshall Munetsi scores first goal but 4/10 star disappoints

Wolves clinched a 1-1 draw against Everton in the Premier League on Saturday, which pushed them six points clear of the bottom three.

Vitor Pereira placed Emmanuel Agbadou straight back in the starting lineup after he returned from injury, serving as a huge boost for Wolves.

However, the centre-back was arguably at fault for Jack Harrison’s opener, aimlessly lofting the ball before his side conceded seconds later.

There was an instant response from the hosts, though, as Marshall Munetsi scored his first goal for the club after being assisted by a wonderful Jean-Ricner Bellegarde pass.

Wolves continued to push for a winner in the second half, but it wasn’t to be as both sides were made to share the spoils.

So, with that said, here’s how the players rated.

Wolves player ratings vs Everton

Jose Sa – 6.5

A fairly quiet night for Jose Sa until he made a top-drawer save to deny Beto in the second half. He couldn’t do anything about Harrison’s deflected strike.

Matt Doherty – 5

Doherty wasn’t tight enough to Harrison for the opener, though the Irishman was a solid performer aside from that, holding his own on the right side of defence.

Emmanuel Agbadou – 6

Agbadou being back in the lineup was a huge boost to Wolves following his injury, and the 27-year-old didn’t disappoint on his return. Although his slack pass led to Harrison’s goal, he did make some vital blocks and cleared everything in his way.

Toti Gomes – 7

Another excellent performance from Toti. The Portuguese was as solid as a rock on the left side of defence and used possession well, spraying passes into his midfielders and attackers.

Nelson Semedo – 6

Semedo was partly at fault for Harrison’s goal. He was caught high up the field, and the Everton winger vacated the space he left behind before finishing well. At the other end, he did carry the threat for Wolves in attack, bursting forward down the right and firing ammunition into the box.

Andre – 7

Arguably one of Wolves’ best players against Everton. His ability to take the ball under pressure helped his side retain possession. As usual, Andre’s passing was near faultless, often breaking the lines instead of going sideways or backwards.

Joao Gomes – 7

Gomes was key in an engine room battle against the likes of James Garner and Idrissa Gueye. The Brazilian was machine out of possession, as usual, and was influential going forward.

Rayan Ait-Nouri – 6

Ait-Nouri made multiple bursting runs forward and looked lively for most of the game. But the Algerian was often let down by his end product and needs to improve his decision-making in the final third.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde – 8

A sublime performance from Bellegarde. The Frenchman drove his side forward from central midfield, providing the inch-perfect pass for Munetsi’s goal while impressing with his work rate and press resistance.

Marshall Munetsi – 7

Made a difference for Wolves physically with his height and strength. Munetsi also showed composure with a clever finish inside the box to score his first goal. He was unfortunately substituted at half-time with a suspected injury.

Jorgen Strand Larsen – 4

Strand Larsen made an important run for the Wolves equaliser. However, he was pretty ineffective in possession, failing to hold up the ball for his teammates and win aerial duels.

Substitutes

Pablo Sarabia – 7

Sarabia has often been criticised by the Wolves fans, but they couldn’t at his second-half performance here. The Spaniard occupied dangerous pockets of space, neatly linking possession and looking a threat.

Hwang Hee-chan – 6

Made some decent runs in behind with his pace. It would have been nice if he could have been the match winner.

Goncalo Guedes – N/A

Tommy Doyle – N/A
